How to Reroll Traits

Traits are the modifier layer on a unit you already own. They change damage, cooldown, range, income, or a special combat rule. A mid-rarity unit with a high trait often outruns a Secret with Reach I. That is why Trait Rerolls are scarce and why this page exists as a procedure, not a wishlist.

You earn Trait Rerolls from play, quests, and the Codes Hub. Spend them only on a unit that will still be on the field after the next banner. Rolling a Legendary you will bench is the same as deleting the token.

Steps to reroll

The NPC is not on the Story map. You walk to it from the hub.

  1. Open the Areas button on the right-side menu.
  2. Choose Trait Reroll.
  3. Walk to the Trait Reroll NPC in that area.
  4. Select the unit you want to modify.
  5. Press Reroll. One Trait Reroll is consumed and a new trait is rolled onto that unit.

Stop and read the result before you press the button again. Fast-clicking is how Ace becomes Reach I while you look at chat.

Two stored, one active

Each unit can store two traits. Only one is active in a match. After a roll, set the trait that matches the job as the active one. Keep the second slot as a backup if it is still useful — for example Hustler parked behind a damage trait you are still chasing.

The stored slot is not a second Immortal. It is a bench. If both rolls are bad, you can keep rolling the active slot, but you should decide in advance which stored trait you refuse to overwrite. Losing Ace because you wanted to “just see one more” is a common way to empty a stack.

Immortal is S+

Immortal is the Secret-tier trait and the S+ target on the Trait Tier List. It gives a huge damage bonus plus cooldown, range, and income. It also sets a placement limit of 1. Only one unit on the team can wear it. The match effect waits until after wave 10: if base stocks hit zero, it restores base power, instantly kills nearby non-boss enemies, and knocks back and slows the rest. That effect happens once per match.

Because of the placement rule, Immortal is a carry stamp, not a farm stamp. Put it on the unit that already deletes waves — Madara, Valcrad, Cursed Lover, or your best Mythic damage name. Do not put it on Bluma. Her job is Training Data. She wants income or range, not a one-per-team nuke that also blocks someone else from wearing the same trait.

In a party, talk before you roll. Two Immortal owners in the same lobby still only get one legal placement. The second player wastes the trait or sits on the bench. Online co-op does not stack Secret traits.

What else is worth keeping

You will not hit Immortal on a normal stack. Stop on other high rolls.

Ascendant and Overseer sit with Immortal in S+. Ascendant adds boss damage, which matters in Story bosses and Raids. Overseer adds true damage on top of a solid stat line. Rupture, Stride, and Decay are S-tier damage or DoT rolls. Ace is the honest Legendary keep: damage, cooldown, and range on one line. Head Hunter and Fury III are fine if the unit already crits or just needs raw damage.

Income traits belong on farm units. Hustler and Looting help Bluma or Leorio. Scholar’s EXP bonus is for a unit you are still feeding, not for a finished carry. Range-only rolls (Reach I through Hawkeye) are the first things you overwrite unless the unit’s whole kit is a long lane.

Use the Trait Planner when you want odds and a keep/replace rule before you walk to the NPC. This page is the walk-up. The planner is the math.

When to roll and when to walk away

Roll after the unit has a job. If you cannot say “this is my Story carry” or “this is my farm,” you are early. Feed EXP and clear a few chapters first. A trait does not fix a unit that is still level 1.

Do not roll during a losing Infinite run. Traits are account state. They will not save a wave that already spawned. Leave the match, walk to the NPC, then queue again.

If a unit already holds Ace or better, you are no longer rolling for “anything Epic.” You are hunting a named S or S+ line. That hunt is expensive. Bank tokens and wait for more codes or quests instead of turning Ace into Fury I.

Private servers make the walk less noisy. The NPC does not care, but you will misclick less when twenty other players are not dancing on the same pad.

A clean trait session is three decisions written down: which unit, which stored trait you will not overwrite, and which result lets you leave. If you cannot name those three, close Areas and go play Story. Tokens come back. A deleted Ace does not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I open the Trait Reroll NPC?

Press Areas on the right menu, select Trait Reroll, walk up to the NPC, pick a unit, and press Reroll. Each press spends one Trait Reroll.

How many traits can a unit hold?

Two can be stored. Only one is active in a match. Set the job-fitting trait as active and protect the stored backup if it is still useful.

Why is Immortal limited to one placement?

Immortal is Secret-tier with a placement limit of 1 and a once-per-match base-save after wave 10. Only one unit on the team can wear it, so it belongs on the carry.

Should I reroll traits on Bluma?

Only for income or range. Do not put Immortal on a farm unit. That wastes the one-per-team slot and does not help Training Data.

Where do Trait Rerolls come from?

Play, quests, and codes. Redeem the Codes Hub at Level 10 before you spend a stack on a unit you might replace.
